Alien: Earth has ended its first season with a cliffhanger.
The human-robot hybrids have taken control over their masters, and their leader, Wendy (Sydney Chandler), has designs to take over the world. But will the series get a second season?
So far, FX hasn’t given any word on a second season, but fans expect it to get renewed due to its popularity and critical acclaim. Series creator Noah Hawley also expects to continue the story with a new season.
What Noah Hawley says about ‘Alien: Earth’ Season 2 plans
“I’m pretty confident, given the show’s success, that we’ll get to make more,” he told Polygon, adding, “The risk is the reward.”
Chandler also told Polygon that she’s hoping the series is able to return.
“I’m hoping, hoping, hoping we get to go again to see what those dynamics will turn out to be,” she said. “As Noah said, ‘Not enough people died in Season 1.’ So if we go to Season 2, it’s happening, which is terrifying. As an actor, you’re like, ‘Please don’t let it be me.’”
Even though FX hasn’t given its decision yet, chairman John Landgraf talked about the series’ potential in July 2024. People reports Landgraf spoke with Variety about the series, saying, “[W]e’ve told [Hawley] that, assuming, as we hope, Alien: Earth is a returning television series, we want him to focus on at least writing two seasons of it before returning to a possible sixth season of Fargo.”
It would seem that FX has all but confirmed a second season. But a confirmation would definitely be nice for fans who are eagerly waiting for the story of Earth’s contact with Xenomorphs and robot-human hybrids to continue.
What’s the plot of ‘Alien: Earth’ Season 1?

In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined. When the mysterious deep space research vessel USCSS Maginot crash-lands on Earth, “Wendy” and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat in FX’s Alien: Earth.
