Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin and his brother Stephen Baldwin had a lucky escape after their car crashed into a tree on Monday afternoon. Videos of the crash, showing the front part of the car, a range Rover, completely damaged after being rammed into the tree, have been circulating online. The Baldwin brothers were seen getting out of the car unharmed. Hours after the incident, Alec took to Instagram and shared a video revealing what actually happened.
In the clip, he shared that a “big garbage truck” came in his way, leading him to hit the tree. “I crushed my wife’s car, I feel bad about that but it’s all fine. My brother Stephen was visiting me. And we spent the weekend out there for the film festival,” he said, referring to the Hamptons International Film Festival.
He went on to say, “This morning I was in a car accident, this guy cut me off. A big garbage truck … a garbage truck the size of a whale … it was the biggest garbage truck I’d ever seen. It must have been something commercial for like, taking away material from construction or something. To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big fat tree and crushed my wife’s car.” The actor went on to thank the police department and also sent a message to his wife, “Hilaria, I love you more than anything. I’m very proud of you,” he stated in the video. The actor also thanked the East Hampton Police Department in the video.

Alec Baldwin’s wife, Hilaria Baldwin, also shared an update on the crash. She took to her Instagram and said, “I am getting a lot of messages about a car accident that Alex was in and I just want you to know that he is okay. Steven is okay, everybody is okay. No one was hurt and that is the most important thing.”
Earlier, Alec Baldwin was involved in a shooting case in 2021 when, during a rehearsal for his film Rust, a prop gun he was holding discharged accidentally and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. A case of involuntary manslaughter was registered against him but was later dismissed. However, his wife later revealed that the incident left him with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder as he struggled with guilt.
