Avengers Doomsday teaser: Despite several attempts to keep things under wraps, Marvel still fell prey to leaks from their movie Avengers: Doomsday. The studio had decided to show the teaser during the screening of another Disney film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, but the teasers soon made their way onto the internet. Marvel has since then released the Captain America teaser, and now they have released a new teaser showcasing Thor Odinson.
Thor is one of the original Avengers and has been an integral part of the team from the very first film. However, his solo expeditions have now led to another interesting development, which is him taking care of his adopted daughter, Love. The two united at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder, after Thor defeated her biological father, Gorr the God Butcher. Now the god of thunder is coming back for Doomsday, but he is aware of his new responsibilities and afraid of the dire consequences of the battle that lies ahead.
Some of the most profound moments from his story come during his conversations with his father, Odin. Even though his father is no longer with him in body, the teaser opens with Thor talking to him and explaining his delicate situation. He says, “Father, all my life, I have answered every call: to honour, to duty, to war. But now fate has given me something I never sought: a child. A life untouched by the storm.”
He then proceeds to ask his father for the strength of the Allfathers so that he can return to his daughter, not as a warrior, but as the “warmth” he never got as a child. Thor interestingly isn’t going to be the only parent going to war. According to the previous teaser, Steve Rogers is also going to be returning, and he too now has a child. If we take the comics into consideration, that child has to be Sharon Rogers, but then Marvel could be making it up as they are going.
Both Steve Rogers and Thor will find themselves in the exact situation that Tony Stark did at the beginning of Avengers Endgame. He too didn’t want to leave his daughter, Morgan, and go to fight, but he chose to do it anyway, and in the process, he lost his life. Rogers has already lost his life once before, and Endgame seemed like the perfect way to finish his story, but it seems like both he and Thor will have to lace up once more, and maybe sacrifice a lot more than before.
Avengers: Doomsday is going to hit theatres on December 18, 2026.
