The news of Kim Kardashian failing the California Bar Exam first surfaced last month, but now, the moment has become a part of her show The Kardashians. The clip where Kim breaks down after failing the exam was recently shared online. In the clip, Kim is seen sitting anxiously on a couch alongside her family – Kris Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, and her son Saint – waiting for the results to be released at 5 pm. As the clock strikes the hour, Kim refreshes her screen, only to confirm what she had already feared.
“I didn’t make it. It’s okay, I figured that,” she said, trying to maintain composure as her voice cracks. Moments later, she broke down in tears. When Khloe asked why she had anticipated the outcome, Kim admitted she sensed trouble while writing the exam. She revealed that her essays didn’t feel strong enough and she knew that could cost her.

Reacting to her daughter’s disappointment, Kris Jenner said, “It sucks because you worked so hard.” Khloe, however, took a more blunt approach, suggesting that distractions may have played a role in Kim’s result. During a call with Kim’s law mentor, Khloe pointed out that balancing a reality TV show alongside preparation for such a demanding exam may not have helped, noting that Kim was memorising both legal material and TV scripts simultaneously. Kim then called herself “a big f***ing loser this week.”
When Kim shared she failed bar exam
On November 17, Kim shared a video offering a glimpse into her preparation for the bar exam. However, in the caption, she revealed that she did not pass. She wrote, “I’ve shared so much of this journey with you, and this summer I documented some of the final two weeks of studying – the ups, the downs, and everything in between. On November 7th, I found out I didn’t pass the bar. It was disappointing, but it wasn’t the end.” She added, “This dream means too much to me to walk away from, so I’m going to keep studying, keep learning, and keep showing up for myself until I get there.”
Speaking to The New York Times about her bar exam experience, Kim said, “You get the results on a Friday, and I knew Sunday morning they were going to be live on the internet. I was like, ‘OK, let’s do this. I know what I’ve got to do.’ This really sucks because I put so much time into it, but I also know what I can do better.” She added, “I’m pretty good at taking a failure and turning it into something. I don’t have time to dwell. You can feel sorry for yourself for a second, but I need to put that energy into studying more.”
“Falling short isn’t failure—it’s fuel,” she said. “I was so close to passing the exam, and that only motivates me even more.” Kim has been studying law for six years now.
