The relationship between actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez has always been a hard one to keep track of. The two met in 2002 and soon started dating. After breaking off their engagement in 2004, they reconciled again in 2022 to get married. However, they filed for divorce in 2024 and have maintained public distance from each other ever since. That changed recently, when the two were seen posing together at a movie premiere.
Lopez will soon be seen in her latest film, Kiss of the Spider Woman, a musical that is based on a book by the same name. Interestingly, the movie has been produced with Ben and actor Matt Damon’s production company, Artist Equity. Even after the connection, no one expected to see the pair on the red carpet together. Ben and Jennifer looked cordial and comfortable with each other, and the two acknowledged each other’s contribution to the project.
When asked about Jennifer’s performance in the film, Ben told Access Hollywood that, “I am enormously proud of Kiss of the Spider Woman. Bill Condon is brilliant, and this is a role which Jennifer is just so spectacular in. It’s exactly the kind of role that she has dreamed of playing her whole career. It’s hard to imagine she hasn’t had some opportunities. She really seized this thing with both her hands.” Lopez too gave Ben flowers while introducing the film and talked about how much she wanted to do a role like this.
She said, “Thank you so much. Thank you, everybody, for being here tonight. Thank you, Ben; this movie wouldn’t have been made without Ben and without Artist Equity. I read the script, and if you know, I was in bed, and I was just floored. I was just like, ‘Could this be happening right now?’ I get to sing, I get to dance, and I get to act. I get to be an old-time Hollywood movie star.”
Directed by Bill Condon, the cast of the movie features Jennifer Lopez, Diego Luna, Tonatiuh, Josefina Scaglione, Bruno Bichir and Aline Mayagoitia.
