Data protection provider Commvault Systems Inc. today announced a new partnership with identity and access security company BeyondTrust Corp. that sees the strategic integration between the Commvault Cloud cyber resilience platform and BeyondTrust Password Safe privileged access management solution.
The collaboration is designed for customers to further mitigate risks, improve security posture and enhance data recovery efficiency.
The teaming up of the products seeks to address the reality that, as cyberthreats continue to evolve, organizations are working overtime to ensure only authorized users with the right level of privilege have access to their data. Added into the mix is a proliferation of nonhuman, machine identities used by applications, scripts and automated services that creates a vast and often misunderstood attack surface.
“Today’s organizations are facing increasingly complex identity environments, with every human, machine, application and agentic artificial intelligence identity representing a potential threat,” explains David Manks, vice president of Strategic Alliances at BeyondTrust. “This new integration between BeyondTrust and Commvault provides our customers with exceptional visibility and control in managing privileged access within their backup and recovery environments.”
The integration sees both companies overcoming the challenge of an increasingly complex identity environment by combining the security, scalability and flexibility of Commvault Cloud with the visibility and control provided by Password Safe. As a result, it centralizes credential management, leverages just-in-time access, strengthens audit and compliance, and advances cyber resilience, the companies say.
Joint customers can securely manage credentials from a single, secure and centralized location, the companies say. They can also grant unique, temporary credentials that are valid only for that specific task, and maintain a detailed audit trail and support compliance objectives. Finally, they can leverage a unified platform that combines AI, data protection, threat detection and response, to help secure all environments, workloads and mission-critical datasets.
