Ever since Jimmy Kimmel Live returned back to late-night TV, the tensions between the host, US president Donald Trump, television network ABC, and the FCC are at an unprecedented level. Many people who didn’t agree with Kimmel supported him through his suspension, but Trump was obviously not in this camp, and his return has become a point of contention for the president. He wrote a scathing post on his X (formerly Twitter) account about Kimmel’s return, and the host graciously responded.
In the latest episode of his show, Jimmy Kimmel was greeted with loud applause, and he thanked all his fans for their support, even if they are unable to watch his show on television and are catching glimpses of it on YouTube. He then moved on to Donald Trump and said, “A lot of people watched our show last night, and I got a lot of messages from a lot of people. But the next morning, it was back to nothing. I did hear from one very special friend moments after we taped our show last night; the mad red hatter (Trump) wrote, ‘I can’t believe ABC fake news gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back.’ You can’t believe that? I can’t believe we gave you your job back.”

The threat that Trump made on Truth Social read, “I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job back. The White House was told by ABC that his show was cancelled! Something happened between then and now because his audience is GONE, and his “talent” was never there. Why would they want someone back who does so poorly, who’s not funny, and who puts the Network in jeopardy by playing 99% positive Democrat GARBAGE? He is yet another arm of the DNC, and, to the best of my knowledge, that would be a major illegal campaign contribution. I think we’re going to test ABC out on this. Let’s see how we do. Last time I went after them, they gave me $16 million. This one sounds even more lucrative. A true bunch of losers! Let Jimmy Kimmel rot in his bad ratings.”
Jimmy Kimmel responded to this message part by part, first debunking the myth that the White House was ever informed about Kimmel’s suspension. He then said, “You hear that? There is the threat again, this time straight from the FCC biscuit. Only Donald Trump would claim that he never threatened the ABC by threatening the ABC. I almost feel sorry for the people who work for him who try to clean up the messes. They have been bending over backwards to say that he never threatened anyone. JD Vance even made the claim that the president was just joking. But the second the president is alone, he sits on his toilet with his grubby little thumbs on the phone, and he immediately blows their excuses to smithereens.”
This battle between Trump and the late-night hosts has already ended Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show, and nearly did the same to Jimmy Kimmel.
