Legendary Hollywood director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, have died at their Los Angeles home, TMZ confirmed. Earlier, the Associated Press reported that two people had been found dead at Rob Reiner’s LA home. A new report by TMZ has now confirmed that the deceased are Rob Reiner and his wife.
The report further stated that the deaths are being investigated as an apparent homicide, as both individuals reportedly suffered wounds consistent with a knife attack.
The report stated that LAPD personnel are currently on the scene but have not yet issued an official confirmation. However, a press conference is expected to take place later tonight. “As we told you … two dead bodies were found in Rob and Michele’s Brentwood home Sunday afternoon — and law enforcement sources tell us it is the Reiners,” the TMZ report stated.
As per Deadline, While law enforcement authorities have not released an official statement confirming the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, they have disclosed the identities of the deceased. They were identified as a 78-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman, respectively — descriptions that match the ages of Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner.
Who was Rob Reiner?
Rob Reiner was the son of famed comedian Carl Reiner, who passed away in 2020. Rob rose to fame as Mike “Meathead” Stivic on the CBS sitcom All in the Family in the 1970s. The show ran for 205 episodes, and during this time, Rob gradually shifted his focus toward directing.
Over the next decade, Reiner went on to direct several iconic films such as Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, and When Harry Met Sally. He also helmed critically acclaimed projects including Misery, A Few Good Men, The American President, The Bucket List, and Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. Reiner also received an Oscar nomination for A Few Good Men.
