Aficionados of boy-band-led pop music and Hollywood were shocked when actor Sophie Turner and singer Joe Jonas decided to part ways. The couple got married in 2019, after dating for 3 years, and were parents to two daughters, Willa and Delphine. In a recent interview, Joe opened up about his divorce and how they are co-parenting their kids from across the ocean.
The Jonas Brothers, who are currently on tour, sat down with Esquire to talk about their careers and personal lives. The host asked the brothers about their mother’s parenting techniques and how she managed to raise kids who were in the spotlight from such a young age. While Joe called his mother a ‘supermom’, he admitted that raising daughters without a strong female presence is very difficult.
“For girls, I think that it is extremely important to have an incredibly strong female presence in the household. They have got a fantastic mom, and I get to co-parent with a great person who prioritises these kids as well. I want them to grow up in a world where they can do whatever the hell they want,” said Joe.
The brothers were then asked about certain situations where any two of them had to stand beside the third one. Joe then opened up about his divorce and called it the most difficult time of his adulthood. He said, “Well, my divorce. These guys (Nick and Kevin) and many others have been by my side through probably the most difficult time in adult life thus far. Navigating it while we’re travelling and touring. Divorce is tough; it’s not easy for anybody. I think that people are just so quick to make assumptions, and I am just grateful for having these guys, and I have amazing family and friends. To be able to have a relationship with Sophie… I’ll do anything for my kids; I mean, everything you do, you do for them.”
While the couple tried to keep a lid on their secrets during divorce proceedings, many sources close to Joe apinted Sophie as a “party animal,” which reportedly “hurt” Sophie, as reported by Elle. The singer filed for divorce in 2023, claiming that the marriage was “irretrievably broken”. They ultimately divorced in 2024.

On the professional front, Sophie was last seen in the film Trust, where she played a Hollywood actor who is trying to get away from a scandal. Joe is currently on tour with his brothers for their album Greetings From Your Hometown.
