The lawyers over at Justin Baldoni’s house have made another attempt at getting singer Taylor Swift to weigh in on his legal battle with actor Blake Lively. A man representing Baldoni tried to serve her with deposition papers at fiancé Travis Kelce’s home. The plan was ultimately foiled, and the man was arrested and charged with a misdemeanour.
What’s The Case?
The Baldoni-Lively case has been going on ever since the duo worked together on the film It Ends With Us. Last year Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and crossing certain professional boundaries while shooting the film. Moreover, the complaint also talked about how Baldoni was engaged in “social manipulation” and was driving a “smear campaign” against Lively. Baldoni’s attorneys soon fired back and said that the whole complaint was an attempt by Lively to improve her poor image in the industry, and they even accused Lively of being responsible for the poor box-office performance of the film because she threatened to not promote it.
Almost 10 months into the case, Baldoni’s attorneys have been fighting tooth and nail to get some testimonies on his side, and one of the people they want is Taylor. The godmother to Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds’ kids, Taylor was approached for the case out of the blue, and the lack of diligence came to light because of the hastiness. She was initially subpoenaed in May as a witness in the case, but Taylor’s lawyer argued that she had nothing to do with the case, and hence her testimony is of no use. Baldoni’s lawyers even wrote to Judge Lewis J. Liman, pleading with him to allow Taylor as a witness, and they accused Lively’s legal team of threatening Taylor about leaking private text messages if she did not release a statement in support of Lively.
However, the judge did not see enough merit in the request and further warned Baldoni and his lawyers about the consequences of misusing the court of law. Instead, the judge allowed the text messages between Lively and Taylor to be submitted as evidence. Again in September, Baldoni’s lawyers filed another request to depose Taylor, but this was also struck down by Liman after Taylor’s lawyers argued that Baldoni’s team still had presented no credible evidence that would warrant a deposition of the singer.
This was another attempt at serving Taylor with the papers, and the man responsible was Justin Lee Fischer, a former police officer. Reportedly, Fisher scaled the fence of Kelce’s home at 2 am in the night and was soon apprehended.
