There are a few movie franchises as iconic as the slasher movie series Scream. Starting in 1996, the series has been going strong for almost 30 years now. Now for Scream 7, Sidney Prescott and Gale Weathers are returning to unmask this new Ghostface who is going on a murder spree of his own. Like the initial films, the motivation behind the murders seems to be personal, as the killer is after Sidney’s daughter.
The trailer opens with a couple walking into a horror themed BnB, which is actually inspired by the infamous Stab movie series. The fictional movie franchise has been a part of the Scream series for a long time, and it is here in this rented house, where we meet our killer. After killing the couple, the killer makes a call to Sidney, and says, “Miss me?” Even though Sidney initially thinks that this call is just some coward trying to mess with her, she quickly realises that the threat is real.
Sidney does appear well prepared though, panic rooms, secret exit points, and guns are just some of the features in her house, and she is truly forced to use all of them while trying to keep her daughter alive. It is at this point in the trailer we see the return of the iconic Gale Weathers who looks determined and ready to unmask the murderer. People around Sidney’s daughter, especially her friends start feeling the threat as well, which means it is likely that some of them don’t make it.
However, Sidney’s daughter doesn’t seem to like the whole ‘damsel in distress’ routine, as she tells Sidney that she wants to be like her, and fight this threat head on. There is also a huge chance that there are more call backs to the previous films, as this one has been directed by Kevin Williamson, the guy who has been the writer for the past six films.
Directed by Kevin Williamson, the cast of Scream 7 includes Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Isabel May, Mckenna Grace, Anna Camp, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.
