With the first volume of the final season of Stranger Things out now, a lot has been said and discussed. Some people love what the makers have done with it, while some people are still trying to understand it. Netflix and the creators of the show, Matt and Ross Duffer, recently decided to show their fans what truly goes on behind the scenes, especially during the final season. the conversation included spoilers.

Demogorgons abducting kids

The Duffer brothers were also joined by some of the cast members of the show, such as Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, David Harbour, Joe Kerry and latest addition Linda Hamilton. They all talked about their pivotal scenes in volume one and what they were going through when the cameras weren’t rolling. The very first scene that is discussed is when the demogorgons are trying to abduct kids, with Joyce and Robin trying to save them.

Steve’s driving duties

The kids, along with Joyce and Robin, actually get saved when Steve runs over the creature with a car. That’s when it’s revealed to the fans that Keery actually performs all the driving scenes himself. Talking about the same, Keery said, “I do a lot of driving. I showed up for the first season, and they said, ‘You can drive a stick, right?’ Luckily I could, and I have just been driving this car ever since. It’s always fun, and what a great crew.”

Hopper’s ultimate betrayal

Then the scene with Hopper, Eleven and Dr Kay is addressed. Eleven and Hopper break into this lab because they know someone powerful is down there, and the assumption is that it’s Vecna. They actually run into Dr Kay, played by Hamilton, who almost kills Hopper. Eleven saves him, but what followed was something no one expected. Hopper had a fail-safe for if things did not go their way, and that was a bomb strapped to his chest. Millie called it “the ultimate betrayal” as he is going to leave Eleven yet again.

Harbour also talked about the scene and said that a lot of the character’s need for saving the day comes from the fact that he lost his daughter to cancer. “The biggest challenge for him (Hopper) is having to live with this toxic masculine heroism, which contains deep love but also deep betrayal. He sees it as his only answer, and ultimately it’s beautiful, but it ends up straining a lot of his relationships. He has a lot of guilt about what he’s doing,” said Harbour.

Will Byers has powers!

To top it all off, the makers and actor Noah Schnapp discusses the most talked about scene of volume one, which is Will Byers realising that he has powers. Just as Robin, Will and Lucas are about to get mauled by demogorgons, Will gets a vision from his childhood. Memories of him colouring pictures, playing on the swings, and meeting his friends all flash through his brain, and he gets up and takes control over the demons. With one swift motion Will kills them, and his closest confidants realise that Eleven isn’t the only one with powers.

Noah talked about the scene and said, “Having that moment in that set was incredible. It felt like an action movie. Getting to stand there, with the fire around me, everybody down, and I was the only one standing.”

Volume 2 of the final season will be released on Christmas, and the finale will come out on New Year’s Eve.
