Supergirl teaser: Everyone was excited to see director James Gunn’s Superman, as it meant the start of a new and hopefully improved DC Studios. At the very end of the film, we see Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, make an appearance, and we discover that Krypto actually belongs to her. That small and engaging cameo has now turned into a film, and DC has just released the teaser for Supergirl, which is set for release next year.
The teaser is where her cameo left off. We see a hungover Kara lying on the bed, while Krypto relieves himself on a Daily Planet newspaper, carrying an article about Superman on the front page. She congratulates him on the feat, and we see a slight glimpse of Kara’s daily routine. A bus resembling the one from Mike Mitchell’s Sky High is seen as Kara drags herself through the day, only to end up at the bar. She raises a toast and says, “I, Kara Zor- El hereby declares that 23 is going to be the best year yet. Let’s be honest, it’s not a very high bar to clear.”

From there we see some shots of Kara’s background and what her life was like before the destruction of Krypton. She makes a friend, and through her inquisitive questions, we start learning about the trauma that is hidden behind this party-obsessed facade. They obviously run into trouble, and during all the chaos we see a tiny glimpse of Jason Momoa as intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo. While it is just a silhouette, fans will be glad to see Jason survive the reboot of DC Studios and land a different role in the new films.
The teaser also gave a better look at the Supergirl suit, compared to the cameo in Superman. In that moment Kara delivered the dialogue which is probably going to stick to her character for a long time. When asked about what his cousin is like, she says, “Superman sees the good in everyone; I see the truth.”
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the cast of Supergirl includes Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley, Jason Momoa, Emily Beecham, Wil Coban, and David Krumholtz.
